The Old Man is Snoring

Monday morning and it’s finally raining! I say finally because this winter is so damn mild I thought it would never happen. It’s cold too. That’s snow in the mountains. I may have to go skiing again. I have been once this year. Only once. When I move to Auburn, and retire, will I get to go as often as I want? Seems so. Never been retired so can’t be sure.

This morning is a very special day. We are going to sign the escrow documents on our house. In thirty minutes. The house will be sold. Of course, you know, the buyer has to sign and there is a 72 hour right of recision. So not final or recorded at the county till Thursday but for most intents and purposes, the house is sold today.

We found a rental to live in yesterday. Good timing. So we can start to move shit to the new place now because we are renting back here for up to 60 days. For convenience. The rental is nothing special except it is our new home. I hope we are in our new house for Christmas, that would be awesome.

Big things are coming, like a longer commute and rent payments. Wait, that’s not fun! I been living free for 28 months and I like it. Guess I will need to pay off the new place first. Then I get “free” housing again. Something to look forward to. Rainy days and Mondays always get me down. That would make a good song.

So we signed the sale docs at 730am. All done in 15 mins. The buyers came in after and signed. 72 hours.

Emiky went to work and I stayed on Linda’s request to go over a few more items. I chatted with Linda and title officer Becky. I have known Becky for many years. Turns out you can learn something new about people you know. Becky was born on my birthday!! I was very excited. How often does that happen? Never maybe? Fun to have something in common that no one else does.

When the buyers showed up, I was still there. That’s when I headed for the door. Don’t want to use their time. I went to work out. Which was fine. Car was driving a little weird. No problem.

As usual, my workout worked out. I felt exercised. I went home to clean up and do the necessaries. Got set and headed out. I had one stop to makenin West Sac at UPS then off to an appointment. The car was driving more and more squirrely as I went. I realized there was something wrong with one or more of the tires. Of course, as you know, my TPMS is not working. The tire guy broke a sensor so it reads low pressure all the time. Moron. I got to my destination and got out. Two tires my side fine. Other side, right rear dead flat. I was driving in a flat tire. No wonder. So, I texted my tire guy and gave him a ration. For fun. Then I called my road service and sat and waited. Made some phone calls. Guy showednin 30 mins. Took him less than 5 mins to change it. Impressive. And it wasn’t a tow truck. He drove a Kia Soul. Funny.

Off to the office, now having missed my next appointment. Which was ok, he reset to two. That worked fine. Got to work and…worked. Bills, mail, taxes, a couple appointments for taxes. About 230 we got a massive hail storm which lasted half an hour. That is crazy unusual.

Looks like snow. I kept working till about 6. Emily called and told me to pick up dinner on th way home.

The car, weirdly, drove just fine on the spare. Better than the morning. I will take the tire to the shop in am. Nice drive on a rainy evening with no problems. Maybe I can get it fixed. For good.

I picked up Chinese food for dinner and headed home. Passable Chinese food, not great. Blandish. If that’s a word. Filled us up and it was cheap.

I opened a bottle of the new wine club delivery. Which is why I was at UPS in West Sac this am. The ‘13 cab was surprisingly ok. Maybe approaching good. For Goose Cross Winery, that is high praise. I don’t like many of their offerings. It went well with the King Pao.

Emily went up to bed 30 mins ago. I am heading up soon as I finish this. Day done. Too many hinges to deal with. But no carry over to tomorrow. As it should be.
