Too Early for Sunday Paper

OK. It’s 545am Sunday morning. Or so I have been led to believe. But, I have no newspaper in my driveway. So, without that, how would I know for sure? You sit there saying everyone knows what day it is. If you woke from a coma, alone, no phone, you believe you would just intuit the day? I doubt it. Sunday paper is my first confirmation.

No paper so I guess take a shower and go to work. We are having guests over tonight so I gotta get in to work and get some stuff done before I gotta run back home and take care of them. No worries, we like them. But I would probably get up later without the party tonight to throw.

I have a ton of work at the office which is why I am up so GD early. I can put a big dent in it before I get a refill next week. It does not end for quite awhile.

The freeway was empty. I guess all the church goers are not so devout as to go early for extra praying. So, the trip to the office was fast.

I would love to tell you how wonderful it was but it wasn’t. I just sit and work. No texts till about noon. Everyone else up late from bed on Sunday. Or texting after church. So the whole day till 3pm was just quiet work. Boring.

Drive home was as you may expect. Normal, no real traffic. A nice Sunday drive. I think it best most drives are like this. If it were a continuous road rage affair you may think me insane.

I got home at 4pm. At least 2.5 hours before our guests. I helped Emily with a few last touches in the kitchen. She had worked all day, made two cakes and the beef Wellington. She truly out did herself. She was also packing more stuff away getting ready for the move.

About 5, with all the food ready or cooking, we switched to packing. Managed to get more stuff boxed up for the big move as well as for the sale. The sale is Friday thru Sunday and we need to have everything in position.

Barb, Kirk and kids got here about 7. We had cocktails and a little to eat. Always nice to see them. We have a good time just hanging out.

Once the beef was ready we went in to dinner. Emily seems to have perfected the art of beef Wellington. It was truly perfect. Wine and food were paired perfectly. The wine was the kind I won at the winery dinner last Christmas. Very nice bottle. Sadly only had one.

Dinner may have been good but my wife needed to top it. She made a Lemon iced white cake from scratch. And a lemon blueberry upside down cake. And she says she is not much of a baker. Right. Dessert was incredible. I am lucky.

What do you need after dinner? More wine. Of course. We sat around and chatted till everyone was too tired to keep going. The evening broke up. We cleaned up and went to bed.
