Super Sunday

Today is Super Bowl. Can you believe it? I can’t care less because I don’t care at all. We don’t have any Super Bowl traditions or places to go. We have never hosted, only occasionally attended other events. I stopped giving a crap about football soon after the Niners won number 5. Seemed somehow old. Emily is not a football fan. So today we are going out for breakfast at Bacon and Butter, a placebin Sacramento which serves breakfast. Only. Then a little furniture shopping. Hey, it’s a new tradition. Or not.

We got a call, while out in Woodland yesterday, from my friend Bob. He and gf Renee were looking for something to do today since they are also traditionless on Super Sunday. We invited them along to B n B and are meeting them at 10. Or maybe later since we got out late. I am hungry.

We got to Bacon and Butter at 10. We got our table. I sure am glad the owner is a client since there is always a two hour wait. I called him yesterday and he made the table happen. Got to love being let in behind the velvet ropes.

We barely had our coffee when the other two showed up. Nice to see them, it’s been quite awhile. They have both been up in Tahoe, Renee bought a new rental in need of serious rehab. Which was mostly done by Bob. And Bob has a new position with the City of Incline Village. He is a bartender. No kidding, a city bartender. Definitely not an everyday thing. So both have been up the hill in Incline Village for quite awhile. Weeks.

Breakfast was very good, which it always is, 2 hour wait. Duh. I had an omelet which was great though I’m not sure why it was. Flavor, texture, ingredients all fantastic. I did not try anybody else’s food. Happy with mine.

We finished up slowly and sat for a while to let the meal settle. I was full enough. We left, not raining outside, but threatening. Our next errand was heading to West Elm to look at furniture. We bought nothing. I took a few pieces home in my camera. We are buying for the new house so we need to be careful and get nice things we want to keep forever. Much harder to accomplish than you may think. Especially since Em and I need to agree on these things. At least in theory.

So we said good bye to Bobby and Renee. They went home. We drove to Woodland. Because why? Because my wife has an infinite need to exercise her retail skills. And this new house has set her off. And by that I mean set her off in insane-o mode. Sometimes.

In Woodland we revisited Home Goods. Again. We were here yesterday. I think she might be crazy. But she claims inventory changes often. I don’t know. After our purchase-less visit, we went to Dollar Tree. DT is a very scary place. Wife is a school teacher and everything is a dollar. And she needs a lot. I really needed to wait in the car. I didn’t. We cruised every GD aisle in search of the exact things she needs to celebrate the 100th day of school. I was expecting it to cost $100. It was a bit of a miserable experience. But I found some toothpaste real cheap. Win for me.

Homeward bound. No more stops. Made a big unload when we got home. Still not raining. I like that. Put crap away. Why? We’re moving. I don’t know. Emily went to the store. Yes, again. I dont know where or why. I don’t care. I got boxes out and started to pack. Gives me something to do.

Emily got home and complained about the packing. She needs to be packed. In a box. For a week. Until she cheers up. After that I switched to packing MY clothes. She can’t complain about that. Just a little grumbling. I ran out of boxes. Which is good cuz we got nowhere to put the boxes. Stack to the ceiling. This place is tiny.

Emily and I wore identical, almost, outfits. Black sweater and jeans. Just wanted to mention it. I got dressed first too. She copied, and it’s because I looked THAT good. It’s always like that. I almost have to dress her.

We put the Game on at home which makes her happy. Emily likes noise. I would not have bothered to turn on the TV. I don’t care for the outcome of the game or football for that matter. Some think it’s important. I put it far down the list.

Marika came home from Petaluma tonight. She does visit often which is really nice. Breaks up the week. She got home about 4 minutes before the end of the game. For some reason she is rooting against the Patriots. I guess she thinks they win too often. I said that is because they are a great team. They tend to win. Weird.

Emily had decided earlier we should go out to dinner. That would be after I had got meat out to defrost to BBQ. Did I mention she can be irritating? Very irritating. So we went out. Sposed to be for BBQ ribs. We ended up at a local Thai place. Closed. F…ing Super Bowl. Went to Buddha Thai. Closed. Crap. Went to Rose Garden Thai. Open. Winner. No bbq ribs. I did have a Thai ice coffee which they make very well. Marika had one too.

We did have some fried pork with dinner. Thai beef salad, very spicy. A nice meal. And the place was empty. Just us. That was weird. Great service though. And food showed up very fast. Very.

We have been sitting and chatting for awhile. No one wants our table. Waitress has been gone for 15 minutes. She did drop the bill. Too much. It’s always too much. When she did show up I gave her my Google cash card. Always an adventure using it. Tonight though we managed to squeeze out $30 from it. Paid for most of dinner. We cruised home.

I should mention, I get paid $60 every month by Google for doing nothing. I get paid in cash cards. Google then tracks my search engine use on all my devices. Seems fair. I need to remember to not search for embarrassing things online. Ewwww.

At home we did laundry and made beds and watched some awful TV. Usual. Bedtime next.
